‘(Ik) Heb Je Lief’ is een serie van vijf animaties, elk vertelt een verhaal van een andere Chinees geadopteerde. Hierin worden verschillende thema’s aangesneden waar geadopteerden vaak mee te maken krijgen: Roots, Identiteit, Mentale Gezondheid en Racisme. Het vijfde thema is China en behandelt de cultuur en geschiedenis van het land, kennis hierover helpt om de andere thema’s beter te begrijpen. 

Elk persoon gaat anders om met deze thema’s, de één heeft het er zwaar mee terwijl de ander door het leven vliegt. Door deze ervaringsverhalen te delen met de wereld hoop ik Chinees geadopteerden aan te spreken, een hart onder de riem te steken en ze te laten weten dat ze niet alleen zijn. Hoe anders je je ook voelt, er is iemand die je begrijpt. De titel ‘(Ik) Heb Je Lief’ slaat op de boodschap om lief te hebben, elkaar, maar vooral ook jezelf.

‘(I) Love Me’ – is a series of five animations, which each tell the story of a different Chinese adoptee. In this, various themes are addressed that adoptees often have to deal with: Roots, Identity, Mental Health and Racism. The fifth theme is China which covers topics such as the culture and history of the country itself, this helps with the understanding of the other themes. 

Each person deals with these themes in a different way, one has a hard time while the other goes through life almost effortlessly. By sharing these experiences with the world, I hope to appeal to Chinese adoptees, to encourage them and let them know that they are not alone. No matter how different you feel, there will always be someone who understands you. The title ‘(I) Love Me’ refers to the message to love, each other, but most of all yourself.
